Mitchell Smith is a Professor and Chair of the Department of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma. His research and courses cover the politics, economics, and public policy of the European Union and its member states. Aqil Shah is a Wick Cary Assistant Professor of South Asian Politics in the Department of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma. He also serves as a non-resident scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for Peace. After earning an MPhil in International Development from Oxford University and a PhD in Political Science from Columbia University, Shah taught at Dartmouth and Princeton. He also previously worked as a policy advisor in the Asia-Pacific Governance Program of the United Nations Development Program and a Senior analyst in the South Asia office of the International Crisis Group. He joins World Views to explore his own path to an interest in foreign affairs and his current work as a scholar of South Asian politics.
